God Called Abram Out
God called Abram and said to him, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” (Genesis 12:1-3)
The key points are:
1. God called Abram and commanded him to leave his homeland and go to a land that God would show him.
2. God promised to make Abram into a great nation, bless him, and make his name great.
3. God said Abram would be a blessing to all the families/nations of the earth.
4. God would bless those who blessed Abram and curse those who dishonored him.
This was the beginning of God’s covenant relationship with Abram, which would eventually lead to the establishment of the nation of Israel and the coming of the Messiah through Abram’s descendants. Abram’s obedience to God’s call was a pivotal moment in biblical history.
