Noah And The Ark
The story is found in the book of Genesis in the Bible. God saw that the wickedness of humankind had become great on the earth, and he decided to destroy the world with a great flood. However, God found favor in Noah, a righteous man who walked faithfully with God.
God instructed Noah to build a large wooden ark to save himself, his family, and two of every kind of animal. Noah followed God’s commands and built the ark. When the flood came, Noah, his wife, his three sons and their wives, as well as male and female pairs of all the animals, entered the ark.
The rains fell for 40 days and 40 nights, and the floodwaters covered the entire earth, destroying all other life. After many months, the waters receded, and the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. Noah sent out a raven and then a dove to see if the waters had receded. When the dove returned with an olive branch, Noah knew the land was drying.
Finally, God told Noah and his family to leave the ark. Noah built an altar and offered sacrifices to God, who was pleased and made a covenant with Noah, promising never again to destroy the earth with a flood. God set a rainbow in the sky as a sign of this covenant.
The story of Noah’s Ark teaches about God’s judgment on sin, as well as his mercy and faithfulness in saving a righteous remnant. It is one of the most well-known and iconic stories in the Bible.
