The Plague Sent To Egypt Part 4
The Plague on the Firstborn:
– This was the tenth and most devastating plague that God sent upon the Egyptians.
– God declared that he would strike down the firstborn son of every household in Egypt, both human and animal.
– However, the Israelites were instructed to sacrifice a lamb and apply its blood to the doorframes of their homes. This would serve as a sign, and the Lord would “pass over” those houses, sparing the firstborn.
The Passover:
– The Israelites followed God’s instructions and celebrated the first Passover, sacrificing a lamb and applying its blood to their doorframes.
– When the plague struck Egypt, the firstborn son of every Egyptian household, including Pharaoh’s own son, was killed.
– This caused great mourning throughout Egypt, as there was not a house without someone dead.
Pharaoh Relents:
– Faced with the devastating loss of life, Pharaoh finally relents and tells Moses and Aaron to take the Israelites and leave Egypt immediately.
– The Israelites hastily depart Egypt, taking their unleavened bread with them, as there was no time to wait for it to rise.
The Exodus Begins:
– With Pharaoh’s permission, the Israelites begin their Exodus from Egypt, led by Moses and Aaron.
– This marks the beginning of the Israelites’ journey to the Promised Land, as God fulfills his promise to deliver them from slavery.
The Plague on the Firstborn was the final and most devastating of the ten plagues, leading to the Israelites’ freedom from Egyptian bondage and the start of their Exodus to the land God had promised to their ancestors.
